One of the most hotly anticipated events of the basketball year is returning to Ireland this May; The Hula Hoops 3X3 National League Championships tips off at Bray Seafront on Saturday, May 18th.
This high-intensity sport event will see sixteen teams from across the Basketball Ireland National Leagues competing to be crowned Hula Hoops 3X3 National Champions.
Last year’s hugely successful inaugural event saw DCU Saints pick up the men’s title, while Ambassador UCC Glanmire was crowned women’s champions. This year’s competition is set to be just as fierce, with Templeogue, UCD Marian, IT Carlow Basketball and DBS Éanna being just some of the men’s teams who will go to battle, while Courtyard Liffey Celtics, Fr Mathews, Pyrobel Killester and reigning champions, Ambassador UCC Glanmire will be some of the many teams vying for glory in the women’s competition.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Conor Meany, Commercial Manager at Basketball Ireland stated: “We are thrilled to be bringing the Hula Hoops 3X3 competition back once more this year, and it’s set to be a hugely exciting event at Bray Seafront. 3X3 is such an exciting form of the game and it will be great for people to be able to see it in Ireland on this scale again. With some of the top players in the country playing, it should be a great day of basketball and it will definitely be worth coming down to Wicklow to see what 3X3 is all about.”
Also, looking ahead to the event, Karen Hurley, Senior Brand Manager for Tayto Snacks added: “We are all ready for a great event in Bray on Saturday, May 18th and Hula Hoops is delighted to be supporting 3X3 Basketball once more this year. 3X3 is an extremely exciting format of the game, and this tournament will showcase some of Ireland’s best basketball talent in a very unique setting.
