Bray Twinned with Würzburg
Bray is twinned with the towns of Würzburg in Germany, Bègles in France and Dublin California. Each year delegates representing Bray visit and play host to their counterparts in each of the twinned towns. This helps foster links between the towns and helps promote all Bray has to offer.
Würzburg is a city in the Bavaria region of Germany. It is a beautiful city with many stately buildings, a large university and a world heritage site, the Würzburg Residence. The city has strong links with Ireland, the Irish Missionary St. Kilian Christianised the city in 689.
In 1999 Bray signed the twinning charter with Würzburg. Bray had already maintained links with Würzburg through an exchange programme between St Killian’s Community School in Bray and Matthias Grünewald Gymnasium in Würzburg.
Bray Tourism visited Würzburg in October 2013 to promote Bray at the Main Franken Messe, a huge trade fair that is held every two years in the city. The trip was very successful and helped cement the links between the towns further.
