Thousands of wing fanatics attend Wings Food Fest in Bray

Up to twenty five thousand wing lovers and foodies attended Wings Food Fest which returned to Bray Seafront this weekend (Saturday, July 15th and Sunday, July 16th 2017).

The strong crowd baked in the summer sunshine soaking up great live music, enjoying family fun while a whopping 17 pop up stalls served up some of the mightiest, hottest, finger lickin’ chicken wings on the east coast. There was even professional pit masters on hand carrying out BBQ demos and offering some great tips.

Visitors also had a chance to win free wings at the WingARoo ‘Spin a Wing’ wheel while those with a competitive streak had a chance to eat some seriously hot wings or eat as many wings as they could in 3 minutes.

12 bars and restaurants competed for the ‘Bray Wing Off’ title and after a much heated debate our judging panel crowned Platform Pizza as having the best wings in Bray for 2017.

Wendy Walsh from Wings Food Fest said “The aim of the Wing Food Fest was to honor the chicken wing phenomenon and this weekend I think we certainly did that in style. It was really great to see the sun making an appearance which helped boost visitor numbers. Bray was the place to be at the weekend.”

“A massive thanks to all the weekend performers, food stall holders, suppliers, crew and in particular Euro Deli whose great support and help was invaluable” concluded Wendy.

Wings Food Fest is part of the Bray summer tourism campaign which is brought to you by Bray Chamber, Wicklow County Council and Bray.ie.

There’s still plenty more events taking place in Bray this summer. Next weekend the Seafront Fun Fair returns until August 7th, watch gravity-defying manoeuvres, fly-over’s and aerobatic performances at the Bray Air Display which also takes place next weekend (Saturday, July 22nd and Sunday, July 23rd) with free ‘Outdoor Movies on the Beach’ and ‘Summer Sounds’ concerts also taking place in July and August.
