As part of the #OurTownOurRiver exhibition, a competition was held to find the best limerick composed about the Dargle River. There were three categories: Primary School, Transition Year and Adult.
A big thanks to everyone who entered our competition.
Congratulations to Newcourt School, 6th class pupils at St. Peters National school and Mr Paddy Mullins all winners in the competition.
You can read the limericks below.
Limerick 1 – Newcourt School
There was a young man from Bray,
Who wanted to sing and to play,
He boxed like Katie Taylor,
Sailed on the Dargie like a sailor,
And was king of the world for a day
Limerick 2 – 6th Class St. Peter’s National School
There was a young class from Bray.
They all went on the stray
Their teacher said hey don’t go that way
Or you will end up in the River Dargle
Limerick 3 – Adult
There were two lads from Bray,
Who wanted a weekend away,
They sailed up the Dargle,
With a crate full of gargle
And haven’t been seen to this day
